My writing career began in earnest in 2019 when my article for gal-dem went viral. Part personal essay, part phenomenology of race in Britain, ‘The Politics of the Pavement’, is an early foray into ideas I’m still circling in my research today: the ways in which our encounters with the world are mediated by history, violence, and power.

Over time, this exploration has expanded beyond writing into content creation, curation, and programming. I’m interested in how people, particularly marginalised people and cultures, attempt to reinscribe their subjective experiences on the ‘objective’ material world. I’ve had the fortune of working with such people – from emerging filmmakers in the African diaspora, to world-renowned artists like Mark Bradford and Carrie Mae Weems.
